Adam Hart Electrical was contacted and asked for a representative who might be interested in traveling to a Tsunami-struck community in Sri Lanka, to volunteer in bringing his own hand tools and co-coordinating a refit to a badly wave-damaged maternity clinic.
Before accepting this invitation, Adam Hart had to attend Criminal and Child Protection Agency checks, together with members from the sponsors 'World Vision'. These people basically sponsor orphans caught up in areas where a natural tragedy has taken place.
Upon arrival in Sri Lanka our group were filmed throughout by the 'Challenge Anneka' production crew, entering and working flat-out in a run-down and worn out maternity clinic. The challenge was to finish and hand over a complete building ready for opening so that more than 20 women could benefit from the baby-scanning and medical equipment donated from suppliers in the UK.
This was seen by viewers of Channel 4 TV, on Boxing Day 2006.
Adam Hart's individual tasks were to disconnect all surplus electrical wiring and supply lighting and power to the project and connect up a baby-scanning machine. The experience was amazing; very emotional and rewarding both
spiritually and mentally.
Dear Adam,
Thank you so much for all your amazing help with our "Challenge".
You were a real trooper and we can't thank you enough for making the impossible possible!
Love,
Anneka x
